
Description:
Medical and Clinical Lab Technicians work in labs and perform tests on many different things. Their work helps doctors and researchers fight diseases and helps to make people healthy again.
Duties:
• Using a microscope, they look at body fluids and cells.
• Look for bacteria and germs, and also look for things in blood.
• Count cells and look for cells that do not look normal.
• Write reports about what they find.
Where and When:
• Most work in a hospital, but others work in research labs and at universities.
• These labs are very clean, and Technicians must take special care when handling samples and equipment.
• They work normal hours, but some hospital labs are open at night for emergencies.

• Microscopes
• Chemicals
• Goggles
• Gloves
• Blood and cell analyzers
Education and Training:
• An Associate's Degree in medical technology or science is required.
• Many have a Bachelor's Degree.
• Some states require a license.
