Description:
Museum technicians and conservators work with items in a museum. They clean, arrange, install, and exhibit things such as fossils, bones, old clothes, paintings,toys, or other items.
Duties:
• Clean objects such as paper, cloth, wood, metal, glass,rock, pottery, using soap and polishes.
• Repair broken objects.
• Watch people who help with storing special objects.
• Prepare objects to store and ship safely.
• Take pictures of objects in a museum.
• Lead tours and teach students.
Where and When:
• Most work in museums or historical places people visit, like Williamsburg, VA or Yorktown, VA.
• Many may also work for the government.
• Most work during the times people visit museums and places during the day and on weekends.
• Some may work at night to set up displays.

Education and Training:
• Most must have a Master's Degree (6 years of college).
• Some can have a Bachelor's Degree (4 years of college).
• Few have some college without a degree.
• Most must have 2-4 years experience, working in the field.
• Some must have 3-6 months on the job training.
