
Description:
Examine, diagnose, and treat dental abnormalities and problems. Design and make appliances to realign teeth and jaws.
Duties:
• Diagnose teeth and jaw or other dental-facial abnormalities.
• Fit dental appliances in patients' mouths to alter the position and relationship of teeth and jaws or to realign teeth.
• Provide patients with proposed treatment plans and cost estimates.
• Instruct dental officers and technical assistants in orthodontic procedures and techniques.
Where and When:
• Works in an orthdontist office.
• Works during the day, up to five days per week.
What or Who They Work With:
• Works with children, teens, and adults requiring dental attention.
• Works with appliances that move or realign teeth or jaws.
Education and Training:
• Orthodontists attend Medical School.
