
Description:
Repair, maintain, or install computers, word processing systems, and electronic office machines, such as duplicating and fax machines.
Duties:
• Converse with customers to determine details of equipment problems.
• Reassemble machines after making repairs or replacing parts.
• Travel to customers' stores or offices to service machines or to provide emergency repair service.
• Assemble machines according to specifications, using hand or power tools and measuring devices.
• Operate machines to test functioning of parts or mechanisms.
• Maintain records of equipment maintenance work or repairs.
Where and When:
• Work mainly in offices repairing equipment.
• May work in manufacturing plants repairing machines.

• Work with office machines such as computers, faxes, copiers, and word processors.
Education and Training:
• Most have a High School Diploma.
• Some have an Associate's Degree.
• Most have at least 2 years of related work experience.
• Some have months of on-the-job training.
