Description:
Soil and Water Conservationists help protect land and water.
Duties:
• Work with people in government and in the community.
• Tell farmers and ranchers the best way to solve problems without hurting land or water.
• Take samples and write reports.
• Visit places where soil is washing away to find out ways to fix it.
• Visit construction sites to make sure the land and water there are not being harmed.
Where and When:
• This job works regular hours.
• Most work is done outside, but sometimes they work in labs or in offices.
• They can work for engineering companies, soil and water consulting companies, the government, or for non-profit organizations.
What or Who They Work With:
• Computers
• Cameras
• GPS
• Sampling equipment
Education and Training:
• Bachelor's degree in biology, geology, or ecology.
