
Description:
Creative writers make up stories. They write books, songs, poetry or plays. They can also write scripts for movies, television, or advertising.
Duties:
• Think of interesting stories.
• Write stories down, either on the computer or on a pad of paper.
• Read documents and other stories to make sure their stories are accurate.
• Correct their stories and give them to an editor to read.
• Make any changes that the editor or the person who will be publishing asks for.
Where and When:
• Many writers work from home or while they are traveling.
• Some keep regular office hours, but some have to have another job while writing in the evenings or on weekends.
• Some have deadlines to meet and works many hours trying to meet them.
What or Who They Work With:
• Computers
• Dictionaries
• Writing pad and pens
• Journals
• Historical records
Education and Training:
• High school diploma or GED
• Writers must learn not to give up and to listen to correction.
• Taking writing classes and other classes like art and music helps.
