
Description:
Airfield Operations Specialists make sure that airplanes and helicopters take off and land safely.
Duties:
• Check planes as they arrive, park, load, refuel, and take off
• Teach and use airfield safety
• Work with air traffic control to watch over airfield activities
• Give information on how to operate an aircraft safely
• Help air traffic control talk with people who fix and check the planes on the ground
Where and When:
• Airport
• Military base
• Military aircraft carrier (ship)
• Work in all hours that planes take off and land
• Work all different days including nights and weekends
• Work in all kinds of weather depending on where the airport is located

• Flight simulators
• Machines
• Tools
Education and Training:
• Most must have two years of training after high school or an associates degree (2years) from a college. Many train on the job watching others do the work.
