Interpreters and translators help people understand other's words. They may help people understand another language. They may help people that can not hear understand someone's voice. They may also help people understand words used in court or in medicine. An interpreter works with words that are spoken. Translators work with words that are written.

• Translate or change words used by others using sign language.
• Speak a different language to someone for another person.
• Change words to match a student's learning level.
• Practice understanding different words used in court or in medicine.

• Many work in the courts to help people understand the legal system.
• Many also work in hospitals to help people who can not understand a language know what a doctor or nurse is saying.
• Some also work in schools and colleges to help those who speak different languages.
• Sign Language interpreters help people who can not hear understand the words of others at a school, college, or other setting.
• Tactile Sign interpreters help people understand words who may be blind and deaf.
• Guide interpreters travel with people who go to other countries to help people communicate during their trip.
• Literary translators change the language on a box or product to be sold in another country. Look for other languages at the store on things you may buy.
