Future City Competition

Future City Competition

6th-8th grade students work as a team with an educator and engineer mentor to plan cities using SIM City™ 4 Deluxe software to write and build solutions to an engineering problem with recycled materials. Winners win a trip to space camp and up to $7,500. Finalists receive an all expense paid trip to the location of the finals. Programs can also be done within the classroom as a project without competing. Only $25 per team to register, receive the software, handbook, and a STEM mentor.

Verizon’s Innovate APP Challenge

Up to $20,000 grants for winning middle and high schools and Samsung Galaxy tablets for students on the winning teams. Working with a faculty advisor, students in teams of 5-7 develop an original concept for a mobile app incorporating STEM principles to address a real need or problem in their school or community.
